The house flippers are flopping like a porpoise out of the water. And now the collapse of the MBS, the 6-trillion dollar Mortgage Backed Security market, or at least a good portion of it, is the next thing on the menu.

Gore and NY Real Estate and Green Swindle

April 27 (EIRNS) -- GORE, NAZI BANKER ROHATYN, PUSH GREEN BIG MAC II TO
SAVAGE NYC. Global warming is the latest pretext for a new fascist
looting
scheme against New York, and none other than Al Gore and Felix Rohatyn,
the
Lehman Brothers financier infamous for his role in the 1973 fascist
Pinochet
coup in Chile, have teamed up to push it through.
On Earth Day, New York billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a
plan
to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in his city by 30% by the year 2030,
by
taxing New Yorkers and visitors to the city $8 for any weekday driving
in
most of Manhattan. The mayor proposes the tax revenue thus gouged out
would
fund a $30 billion regional transit financing authority.
Al Gore endorsed the plan, calling it gutsy, on April 26, but it was
Rohatyn
who spilled the beans on its real purpose, in a {Financial Times}
commentary
April 27. According to Rohatyn, Bloomberg’s regional financing
authority is
a new, green version of the Municipal Assistance Corporation (Big MAC)
which
he personally headed in the 1970s. Heading the Big MAC, Rohatyn ensured
bondholders got paid when the city went bankrupt in 1975, by increasing
sales taxes and savaging New York City basic public services
(education,
health, garbage, fire, etc.) The city has yet to recover. (See EIR:

This new scheme is yet another proof that Lyndon LaRouche was right,
when he
warned Democrats that the party will not survive, until it kicks out
such
financier vultures as Gore and Rohatyn.

Mortgage Backed Securities Next to Go Down

April 25, 2007 -- SECURITIZERS WHO CREATED HOUSING BUBBLE ARE
NOW
HIDING BIG LOSSES. The next few months are likely to see extremely
large
securities losses breaking out in mortgage-backed securities (MBS)
which
have been the international banks' essential tool in creating the
now-exploding U.S. and other housing bubbles. These losses, which
various
investment bank reports are now estimating at up to $100 billion, may,
in
fact, be much larger than that, as the fall in home prices accelerates.
They
will hit those banks, and commercial banks as well, exposing how
worthless
are the large part of their assets which are based on the mortgage
bubbles.
Bloomberg news service on April 24 reported a Merrill Lynch estimate
that
the MBS of 2006, the most hyperinflated bubble year, have now sunk in
value
by up to 37%. The large bond fund Pacific Investment Management (PIMCO)
estimated losses at about $75 billion. {New York Times} columnist
Gretchen
Morgenson reported Lehman Brothers' estimate that MBS securities losses
so
far are $20 billion, but will rise during 2007 to 11-13% of the entire
outstanding volume of sub-prime mortgages, which is over $1.5
trillion.
Since 2005, two-thirds of all mortgages have been "securitized," sold
by the
lending companies to investment banks which in turn package and sell
them as
high-profit securities, building a huge mortgage bubble over $15
trillion.
Half of all the banking system's assets are now real-estate
mortgage-based.
Since the investment banks' MBS markets are unregulated, the hedge
funds,
banks, and other funds holding these securities are so far succeeding
in
hiding these huge losses, simply because the credit rating agencies
have
obliged them by not officially downgrading the falling mortgage
securities. This thin wall will collapse soon, and the crash will be
on, as
the fall in home prices nationwide gets serious.
The real plunges in market value of homes, are still to come in future
months. The National Association of Realtors ruefully reported on April
24
that March's U.S. existing-home sales fell by 8.4% from February (the
largest month-to-month drop since 1989), and are down 11.3% from March
2006.
The median existing-home price in March was still only 0.3% below March
2006, and 0.9% below for single-family homes. But the separate
Schiller/Case
home sales report, says that March prices in the 20 largest metro-area
markets, were 1.5% down from March 2006; the unsold inventory of homes
rose
from 6.8 to 7.3 months. "No bottom in sight for the housing market,"
was one
S&P analyst's response to the unexpectedly large drop.

April 22 –The Association of British Drivers (ABD) have moved to prevent the British government from indoctrinating schoolchildren with climate alarmist Al Gore's propaganda film 'An Inconvenient Truth' in schools. The ABD pointed out in a press release that the 1996 Education Act prohibits "partisan views on any subject" and Article 407.1 states that schools must ensure that "where political issues are brought to the attention of pupils, they are offered a balanced presentation of opposing views." If the government wants to open a debate, said ABD environment spokesman, Ben Adams, then they need both sides of the debate and "should ask the headteacher or the governing body to obtain the DVD of 'The Great Global Warming Swindle,'" the WAG-TV documentary, which has ripped through the Gore hoax.

ABD spokesman Paul Biggs said, "The recent Wag TV Documentary, 'The Great Global Warming Swindle,' shown on Channel 4, has helped debunk the claims made in 'An Inconvenient Truth.' For example, recent peer reviewed scientific publications refute claims that the Gulf Stream is slowing down, and that the heat wave of 2003 or increased hurricane intensity were caused by man-made global warming driven by carbon dioxide.... Malaria will not spread due to global warming and Polar Bears aren't an endangered species..." Ben Adams added, "After being vilified by ministers who have chauffeured limos and an environmental movement that accepts flying long haul to sign copies of a book for daring to drive their children to school in heavily taxed cars using heavily taxed fuel on a crumbling road network, parents now confront the prospect of their children facing indoctrination dressed up as science."

Gore and the Futures Speculation Scam in Carbon

Al Gore's connection to ultra right wing circles, who are sponsoring
futures markets based on "carbon use rights" is beginning to drag him
down.

April 21 -Al Gordo suddenly pulled out of the April 20
conference in Miami, sponsored by the "Poder-New America
Alliance-Green Forum," at which he was the scheduled keynote
speaker. The pretext was that he couldn't appear on the same
stage with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. Gore's staff said
it had been advised by the State Department that since Uribe is
accused of having ties to para-military groups--an attempt by his
political opposition to destabilize his government--it wouldn't
be a good idea to be seen with him in public. Gore also
cancelled his participation in the Aug. 27-29 Expogestion
exhibition in Colombia.
Far more likely is that blimpy Al is feeling the heat from
the LaRouche movement's expose of his ties to British financier
interests and genocidalist groups. Sponsored by the rabidly
free-market business grouping PODER, with the backing of former
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's Inter-American Ethanol Commission and
MacLarty-Kissinger Associates, the Miami conference was intended
to foist the ethanol/biofuel swindle on Ibero-American nations
under the guise of "uniting the hemisphere on behalf of
environmental sustainability." Not all the speakers were crazies,
but those who were included Peruvian "smash the state" lunatic
Hernando de Soto, whom George H.W. Bush once described as "my
favorite economist"; IPCC Chairman Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, and
Wal-Mart's VP for corporate strategy, Andrew Ruben. Ephraim
Halevy, the former head of the Israeli intelligence agency
Mossad, was also a scheduled speaker.
The reason given for Gore's withdrawal sparked outrage in
Colombia, where his action was characterized as an affront to
both President Uribe and the Colombian people. Numerous
political figures, including from the opposition, have rallied
against Gore, and in defense of the honor of the President and
the country, and there is now talk of holding a mass
demonstration to support Uribe in the capital, Bogota.

FREDDIE MAC AND FANNIE MAE ANNOUNCED PLANS TO PREVENT
SUB-PRIME BORROWERS FROM LOSING THEIR HOMES, IN THE WAKE OF
MONDAY’S CRISIS-MANAGEMENT MEETING. The {Post} reports that Freddie Mac
is
to buy about $20 billion of mortgages that would primarily refinance
the
loans of people in danger of losing their house, by buying fixed and
adjustable-rate mortgages with more affordable terms, which would
induce
lenders to make such loans to homeowners now struggling with sub-prime
loans. Fannie Mae announced a similar program on Monday. The two
companies
don’t actually issue the mortgage loans, but purchase mortgages from
lenders
and repackage them into securities. According to the {Wall Street
Journal},
neither company has been a direct buyer of sub-prime loans, but has
rather
purchased highly-rated portions of the sub-prime-based securities
issued by
Wall Street.
Although neither Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae has gained approval from
federal
regulators, according to the {Post}, they were represented at a
seven-hour
meeting of federal officials, bankers, and mortgage industry executives
convened by the FDIC on Monday, as reported by AP. That meeting
reportedly
agreed on the goal of preventing high-risk borrowers from losing their
homes
in a time of rising foreclosures.
On Tuesday, according to Market Watch, FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair
testified
at a House Financial Services Committee on the difficulty of sub-prime
borrowers getting relief from their lenders, even if the lenders are
willing, because about 75% of the $600 billion of sub-prime
adjustable-rate
mortgages issued in 2006 have been securitized and sold in a secondary
market. Bair testified that reworking the terms of the loan after it’s
been
securitized is very difficult because the lender no longer has the
power to
make arrangements with the borrower. Nonetheless, that what they are trying to do. To save some homeowners and save the bankrupt financial system.

Enviromentalism as a Giant Real Estate Grab

When I say 68ers, I am referring to the famous international riots in the United States, France, Germany, etc., the so-called Youth Riots. The excuse was the Vietnam War, but this became an obsession to smash "the system".

Australia Getting Hot for Global Warming Hoax

MELBOURNE,Australia, April 11 (EIRNS)--The LaRouche Youth Movement strongly intervened in a meeting hosted by the Australian Fabian Society (a "pro-worker" arm of British imperial policy, which runs the Australian Labor Party) entitled, "A New Socio-Economic Framework: Progressive Responses to Globalisation". Leading speakers included two Blair government advisers, Goeffrey Norris, presently Special Advisor to 10 Downing St., and Nick Thornley, an economic advisor to Blair for two years; Will Marshall, president of the DLC's Progressive Policy Institute; and Roger Liddle, advisor to EU President Barroso. We blanketed the audience of 50 or so as they were going in with the CEC's latest New Citizen, with the banner headline "Global Warming is a Fraud!"

LYM members Aaron Isherwood and Doug Mitchell identified themselves and intervened in question time, Aaron to Liddle on the necessity for LaRouche's New Bretton Woods (NBW), and Doug to Norris on the global warming swindle, including whether the Blair government would fire Al Gore for pushing this hoax. The entire panel were a bunch of sophists, including Liddle, who denied the necessity for a NBW and protested that "we shouldn't halt financial innovation", and Norris, who said, "I respect your right to have a say [!] and put forward your opinion, but the science is well established."

The LYM interventions shook up the meeting, as evidenced by Thornley, who started a question by stating, "I'd like to know about this Lyndon LaRouche. If we come back in 5 years and have a conference in the same venue and the climate skeptics are right and we are wrong, then I look forward to it. I hope they're right and we are wrong." In discussion afterward, Thornley said he was familiar with LaRouche and had read some of his writings.

Australia was the first country to which Blair traveled after setting up his Climate Change Project (CCP) in the U.S., to set one up there and personally brainwash 85 global warming "presenters" to go around Australia giving his slide show. His CCP in Australia is in "partnership" with the Australian Conservation Foundation, founded by Prince Philip personally in 1963, most of whose early funding came from raw materials giant Rio Tinto (whose largest private stockholder is the Queen).

Bronx Real Estate and Homelessness

Due to increasing housing costs, the pressure continues on low-income Bronx families who are trying to avoid becoming homeless. According to the Coalition for the Homeless, homelessness is up by 11-percent over the last year, and in an average night, 35,000 people are in city homeless shelters. The Coalition for the Homeless is a citywide, non-profit organization. According to a Coalition spokesperson, there are 1,000 meals a night given out for free, to the homeless and the needy. Sites for the meals distribution in the Bronx are: SW corner Randall Ave. & Bryant Ave. ~7:35pm, NW corner Lafayette Ave. & Manida St. ~7:50pm, Lincoln Hospital—Morris Ave. & 148th St. ~8:00pm, Harm Reduction -2 blocks from Lincoln ~8:10pm, NE corner 164th St. & Ogden Ave., ~8:30pm, Jerome Ave. & 170th St. ~8:45pm, Fordham Rd. & University Ave. ~8:55pm, and Fordham Rd. & Webster Ave.~9:05pm.

The homelessness crisis is exacerbated by an average 8-percent increase in rents over the last 3 years, while there is a decline in median income. The Coalition recently hosted a press conference at their 129 Fulton St. office in lower Manhattan, which featured a Bronx man, John Chapman, as a speaker. Mr. Chapman had long depended on the city’s shelter system. Through the NY City program, Housing Stability Plus, he was able to obtain an apartment in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, and was able to improve his education, get a GED High School Diploma and get a job. However, he recently was forced out of the Housing Stability Plus program, and thinks that he soon will be homeless again. In addition, the Housing Stability Plus subsidy declines by 20-percent a year.

There are rules that require recipients to stay on public assistance – prohibiting the recipients from working too much, or else they lose their housing subsidy. Other issues that have come up are that there are no protections for families from dangerous housing conditions, and illegal demands for "side" payments from landlords. Households that are able to obtain wages sufficient to make up for the annual decline in their rent supplement have to carefully monitor that their income is not over the limit to be eligible for welfare and, as a result, lose their Housing Stability Plus subsidy. According to a recent Newsday report, a single mother earning $6.75 an hour would become disqualified and lose her subsidy. Currently more than 5,000 formerly homeless New York City households have been relocated from shelters using the Housing Stability Plus program. Over the next year all of those families will face a 20-percent cut in their housing supplement while being prevented from getting enough of a job to make up the difference.

Despite flaws in the program, the Coalition for the Homeless and other housing groups and service providers urge Mayor Bloomberg and the New York City Council to enact a package of reforms to fix the program. set during the last long period of global cooling. Snowfall in parts of
Iowa has been measured at 9 inches in the last 24 hours, breaking a record
dating from 1957. Both North and South Dakota have received 7 inches,
breaking a record for April snowfall set in 1945.

Mark Halper of the Climate Prediction Center of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had stated, “that the winter temperatures would be above normal, but later into the season, temperature would be more seasonal, but spring would be cooler than normal.” Let's get under the greenie kooks skin, by letting it all hang out!

Young Generation Wants Progress Not Gore

Some of my friends in the LaRouche Youth Movement are taking on all the axioms of the dying baby boomer culture. In war- the axiom of endless war, the GWOT, is being replaced by cooperation between nations not only for security, but for peace and development.
The hysterical Green axioms of the Global Warming Swindle, and its carbon speculation markets, of Goldman Sachs, et al. is also going down the drain. Now, technology is being brought back for infrastructure. Next, when we get the financial system to be reorganized into a New Bretton Woods, like Franklin Roosevelt did in the 30s and 40s, then nothing is impossible for the future.

Take yesterday as an example. In Denmark, we testified before the Traffic Committee of the Danish Parliament on our proposal for the construction of a Maglev line in
Denmark, based on Lyn’s ideas on capital budgetting. All of our material is now

Chinese have announced that they intend to extend their high-speed magnetic

In Los Angeles we intervened successfully at the meeting of the LA
County Democratic Central Committee to force the issue of the racist,
pseudo-scientific nature of Al Gore’s Global Warming swindle. Through
the website, this intervention will have an impact throughout California,
throughout the U.S., and throughout the world. The followers of Al
Gore, who voted to prevent a debate on the issue, may think they won a victory,
but in reality they lost, “big time”, by squashing a debate of ideas
procedurally which they knew they could not win on its scientific merits.

Within days of our posting on the LPAC site the story that
Al Gore was going to Chile—sponsored by Barrick Gold, to overthrow the
government of Chilean President Bachelet, in combination with Sebastian
Pinera, the brother Jose Pinera, the former Labor Minister of the
fascist dictator Augusto Pinochet— Gore was forced to disassociate himself from his own sponsor. As Lyn commented, Gore may say that he has disengaged from Barrick Gold, but he is still wearing that mother lode around his waste.

At Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Gore look-alike Arnold
Schwarzenegger pre-selected his audience so as to prevent a LYM
intervention. Pretty soon Arnie and Gore will only be accepting
speaking engagements in a newly constructed Green Zone. With one look at Arnie’s
waiste-line, some students are already asking Arnie if he has become
pregnant again.

We are literally in a race against time. The system is finished. The
danger of an attack on Iran remains real. Therefore, we must concentrate on LPAC as the highest priority.

Arnie Schwartznegger Leads Greenie Swindle Moves

Arnie Schwarznazi and the neo-cons are quickly lining up with Gore and the
Brits on the Global Warming Swindle. Of course, it is an even bigger financial
swindle with the plan for green carbon markets.

April 9--ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER TO BE A KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT
BRITISH TORY CONVENTION IN SEPTEMBER, WITH GREEN "CARBON MARKETS"
AS HIS EXPECTED SCRIPT. Today, British Conservative chairman
David Cameron announced that California Gov. Arnold
Schwarzenegger has accepted the Tory invitation to keynote at
their annual Blackpool meeting. Cameron cited Arnie's "tremendous
leadership, above all in pioneering measures to protect the
environment, reaching out to political opponents in doing so."
Schwarzenegger, also a darling of the Tony Blair Labour
government, is following a green script for high-profile national
and international "bipartisan" action to promote global green
swindles of all kinds, especially C02 emissions caps and
speculation. This is consistent with the British-U.S. gang who
schemed to put him into office in 2003, led by George Shultz; and
also in line with the Felix Rohatyn/Democrat side of the
political spectrum, likewise backing carbon marketeering.
Among Schwarzenegger's most recent actions are:
* March 13, London. He appeared by satellite at a press
conference at No. 10 Downing Street, along with Chancellor of the
Exchequer Gordon Brown and Environment Minister David Miliband,
to announce a new legislative proposal to radically extend carbon
trading in Britain, even beyond what's up and running in the
European Union. This is a precursor for ``global carbon
markets.''
* Feb. 26. "Governor Schwarzenegger joined with the
governors of Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington to sign
an historic memorandum of understanding that commits these five
Western states to jointly develop a regional greenhouse gas
emissions cap and a market-based trading system in our region,''
as reported to the House of Representatives Energy Committee
hearing on March 15, by California Secretary of Environmental
Protection Linda S. Adams. She testified on the status of all
Schwarzenegger's initiatives on national and global carbon
trading. Later in March, Schwarzenegger and British Columbia
committed to cross-border collaboration for carbon marketeering.
* October 2006. Schwarzenegger issued Executive Order
(S-20-06), calling on his Air Resources Board to develop "a
multi-sector, market-based compliance system that could permit
trading between the European Union Trading System" and regional
blocs of U.S. states. His order also created a "Market Advisory
Committee" of national and international experts on how to
operate such trading systems.
Schwarzenegger's Governator career stems back to a vetting
session held in Britain Sept. 22, 2002, at Lord Jacob
Rothschild's Waddesdon Manor. Among those present at the
closed-door occasion, were Warren Buffett, former Federal Reserve
Chairman Paul Volcker, Nick Oppenheimer of DeBeers Diamonds, and
two Cheney-Bush officials--Harold Rhode and David Frum.
Subsequently, in 2003, Buffett and George Shultz served as
Co-Chairmen of the Economics Advisory Committee for
Schwarzenegger for Governor.
At present, Schwarzenegger's technical adviser for carbon
trading is Dr. Jonathan C. Pershing of the World Resources
Institute, whose board of directors includes Al Gore.
Thus, the Schwarzenegger booking for Blackpool is part of
the Governator playing out his assigned role as frontman for
"bipartisan" financial swindles under the global warming hoax.

Besides Al Gore and the oligarchs, the simple truth is that
Carbon trading is stupid. It does not produce anything, and will
not help the environment in any way. It is just the creation of another
speculative bubble.
The financiers do not want to admit that their system is finished, and
that we need a Franklin Roosevelt style New Bretton Woods system. We need
fixed exchange rates, and the ability to make long term investments in the
physical economy.

The financial bubble can be put through a bankruptcy reorganization, but the
key question is can we save people and save the nation (link). Some of my friends have a lot of ideas on these subjects.

April 25 -Al Gore will serve as host when the 12-day Tribeca
Film Festival opens in New York on April 25 with seven short
films presented under the auspices of S.O.S., the campaign behind
the international Live Earth concerts scheduled for July 7 to
draw attention to global warming. The short films also focus on

Ethanol bio-fuels Hoax Mean Food Shortages

WORLD FOOD PRICES SOAR, WITH SOME LAYING THE BLAME ON THE
ETHANOL HOAX. Wholesale food prices have increased 10% in India,
and 6% in China (the world's two most populous countries), and as
much as 13% in Turkey and Hungary, according to research by
Moody's Economy.com. Moody's chooses to blame the ethanol craze
for this--although, as Lyndon LaRouche noted, that has only
accelerated the already existing hyperinflationary leap of the
last period.
It's true that ethanol plays a role, LaRouche elaborated,
but it's not the only truth. Obviously the shift in this ethanol
thing has {accelerated} the rate of inflation, but the rate of
inflation had already been in progress seriously, as anyone who
has been looking at the last several years of trends knows this
is the case. The costs of food have been soaring. This policy
coming out of the Bush Administration and internationally by
Gore, has accelerated that rate.
If corn prices continue to increase, Moody's argues, major
food price increases could hit Japan, Egypt, South Korea and
Mexico, the world's four biggest corn importers. According to the
Wall Street Journal, China, currently a grain exporter, now has
only a two- to three-month reserve, the lowest in the last 10
years. Indian officials have already removed import taxes on
corn, and barred the export of wheat, in order to insure domestic
supply.
Worldwide, grain stocks are at 30-year lows, and analysts
expect that only a "bumper crop" will save the world from
additional price spikes because of shortages. Food prices already
account for 35% of the consumer price index in Thailand, for
example, and as much as 50% in the Philippines. In the U.S., food
prices have risen 3% from a year ago, with predictions that food
will lead the overall inflation rate this year.
The Journal admits that the Journal's concern in all this is
not global starvation, but rather that "this puts the world's
central banks in a bind. .. [by] forcing them to keep interest
rates higher than they would otherwise be." In the words of one
analyst, "In 1972, the last time grain stocks were this low, the
story didn't end well in terms of inflation." Not said, is that,
since then, the world's financial system has been kept alive by
the monetary pump of low interest rates (such as the yen carry
trade), and could collapse overnight if interest rates are forced
to rise suddenly.

Starvation and Gore-e-mania, Greenhouse Gas

The amount of starvation promoted by Gore and Co.s Climate Project,
and the IPCC's fantasy that Man has
screwed up the climate is now coming under a spotlight:

April 6--IDB BIO-FUEL PROPOSAL FOR MEXICO IS PURE FASCISM. A
report on "Feasibility of Ethanol and Biodiesel" for Mexico,
sponsored by the Inter-American Developement Bank and German
Technical Cooperation (GTZ) from the German Ministry of Economic
Cooperation and Developement (BMZ) and coordinated by Mexico's
Secretary of Energy, openly states that for production of ethanol
in Mexico, "the net economic result is negative in all cases"
with current prices of ethanol, because the raw material,
particularly sugar cane, is very expensive, due to labor costs.
The report goes on to suggest the "creative" revamping of the
"extant social pact" among labor and sugar cane industry, so that
labor agrees to to reduce their wages and benefits in order to
"extend" their jobs and double the labor force in the industry,
following "the Brazilian model" of slave labor.
The report adds that an added benefit is that Mexico, by
saving on CO-2 emissions, will be able to issue "carbon bonds" in
the financial markets.

Real Estate Boondoggle on Rikers Island?

We heard some strange noises at a public forum in the South Bronx. Is Mayor Bloomberg trying to clear out Rikers Island Prison and turn it into the Paradise Island real estate boondoggle? Read this dispatch from the Bronx:


City Council Speaker Fuels Speculation on Rikers Island Prison

At the SOBRO (Community Organization), South Bronx Leadership Forum, on April 5th, Christine Quinn, the NYC City Council Speaker gave a dynamic speech. SOBRO President Philip Morrow opened the event and introduced Maria del Carmen Arroyo, NY City Council Representative from the 17th district in the South Bronx. Ms. Arroyo thanked Ms. Quinn for pushing laws for public safety, affordable housing and in general, a more constructive negotiating process. This was especially important in getting the Community Board Agreements (CBAs) for the construction of the new mall at the Bronx Terminal Market site, and the new Yankee Stadium. These include agreements for local residents to get jobs on these worksites. Similarly, with the new school campus at Concourse Village, Maria Arroyo thanked Ms. Quinn’s help to make sure that this contaminated site is cleaned up properly.

Ms. Christine Quinn thanked Ms. Arroyo for the enthusiastic introduction. She also cited the help of Ms. Maria Arroyo. “Maria didn’t say no, and take the easy way out”, on the construction of the new school campus. She realized that new school seats are necessary for the Bronx, but made sure the job is done right.

Ms. Quinn openly admitted that there is a crisis with a rising rate of home foreclosures and the sub-prime mortgage market. She sees that 40% of New Yorkers are paying around 50% of their income for housing, and that there are no easy answers. There is a federal and city program to match housing down payments and closing costs for those with incomes under $52,000 a year, and that the limit now has to be raised to $90,000.

Stephen Smith, President of Oak Point Property, asked a question about concerns that the community has about a jail on Oak Point in the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx, and why shouldn’t this land be developed for its original industrial use? Also, he said that the Department of Corrections is moving to close Riker’s Island jail, with its 12,000 prisoners, and wouldn’t this imply a $5 billion budget for building jails in the city? Ms. Quinn replied that the city council has not weighed in on this issue yet, but the criminal justice committee is looking at it. The mayor has the authority to close jails if he wishes. This relates to the current expansion of the jail in Brooklyn on Atlantic Avenue. She said that hearings were pushed back to give more time for people to speak out on these issues and make sure there is transparency.

Lord Monckton Against Prince Charles' Gore

It seems that the opposition to the global warming hoax has even
reached to the British House of Lords.

LORD MONCKTON OF BRENCHLEY CHALLENGES AL GORE TO A DEBATE ON
MAN-MADE CLIMATE CHANGE in an ad taken out in the April 3
{Washington Post}. The challenge was first made on March 14,
2007. The background to the challenge is this: In November 2006,
Lord Monckton issued a 40-page research paper on the fraud of
global warming, titled "Apocalypse Cancelled." In it, Monckton
says: "Last Week Gordon Brown and his chief economist both said
global warming was the worst market failure ever. That loaded
sound-bite suggests the climate change scare is less about saving
the planet than, in Jacques Chirac's chilling phrase, creating
world government."
Lord Monckton also said that the environmentalists'
"precautionary principle" is killing people. He gives the example
of the banning of DDT, noting that just this year, after 30
million people died of malaria, the World Health Organization has
agreed to use DDT for indoor spraying.
Lord Monckton also calls for the UK to start building--not
merely designing, or having a ten-year planning inquiry about--12

A BACKGROUND TIMELINE ON THE FIGHT IN THE HOUSE OF LORDS ON
THE SUBJECT OF GLOBAL WARMING.
* During the first term of the Thatcher government, Lord
Monckton was Prime Minister Thatcher's science policy advisor.
When the first talk of global warming started to come out,
Monckton advised Thatcher to OK research on the subject and see
if there were a real problem or not. Thatcher would go into
Cabinet meetings waving Monckton's articles, saying that her
policy people said that the research had to be done right away.
* In 1988, Monckton went on the talk show circuit, talking
about the government's research into global warming.
* In 1988-89, Lord Lawson of Blaby was Chancellor of the
Exchequer in the Margaret Thatcher government, and he issued the
first funds to set up the Hadley Center Meterological Office.
* In 1992 Lord Monckton gave a lecture at the Royal Society,
in which he said that there were major problems with the science
of global warming and there was no reason to panic.
* During the 1990s Lord Lawson started to doubt the science
of global warming as he heard more reports on the science.
* In 2005, the House of Lords started an inquiry into the
science of global warming and the role of the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change and held hearings taking statements from
scientists against global warming, like Dr. Paul Reiter and
Richard Lindzen of MIT. The House of Lords also took testimony
from Sir John Houghton.
